Tabata Something ElseNow known to me as “JD”

Complete 32 intervals of 20 seconds of work followed by ten seconds of rest where the first 8 intervals are pull-ups, the second 8 are push-ups, the third 8 intervals are sit-ups, and finally, the last 8 intervals are squats. There is no rest between exercises.

Post total reps from all 32 intervals to comments.

I didn’t work out on Tuesday as planned so I could attend the funeral of my great-uncle “JD”. The last time I saw him was earlier this summer when my grandmother (his sister) past away. I got up to say a few words about her and as I finished and was going back to my seat, I heard over the silence in the room, “Was that Joe?”

Old people rock! They can’t hear and they don’t care. If they have something to say or have a question they just say it. I later got to spend some time talking with JD and glad I did. He was truly interested in what I was doing and how I had been.

He was a true American hero, one of thirteen children, served in the south pacific in WWII and raised five kids on a farm while giving faithfully to his church, family, community, friends and neighbors. I was lucky enough to have grown up with him as one of the role models of our small community. I never realized how much of an influence he and aunt lois had on me until last night at the viewing. I moved away from my small rural upbringing 20 some years ago, but the core of who I am can be traced right back to this tight knit community and family.

And we lost one of its’ icons… rest in peace uncle JD.
